Οὔτε τις οὖν τοταμῶν ἀπέην, νόσφ᾿ Ωκεανοῖο.
Οὔτ ἄρα Νυμφάων, τάιτ᾿ ἄλσεα καλὰ νέμονται.
Καὶ πηγὰς ποταμῶν, καὶ πέισεα ποιήεντα.
Ibi enim genera varia Nympharum recensens, vulgo cum coeteris minus nota. Αἱ τὰ ἄλση, inquit, κατοικοῦσαι Νύμφαι, ἀλσηΐτιδες καλοῦνται, αἱ δὲ ἐπὶ τῶ δένδρων, Α῾μαδρυάδες, αἱ δὲ τὰ νάματα τῶ ὑδάτων Ναΐδες, καὶ Υ῾δριάδες. καὶ τούτων αἱ μέν Κρηνίδες, α.῾ δε Ε᾿πιποταμίδες. αἱ δὲ ἐπὶ τῶ βοσκημάτων, Ε᾿πιμηλίδες, αἱ δὲ ἐπὶ τῶ ὀρῶν Ο᾿ρειάδες, καὶ ὅσαι ταύταις ὅμοιαι, ὁμόιως δὲ καὶ ἐπὶ τῶ ἑλῶν, Ε῾λιονόμοι. Sicque Alseides silvis, Hamadryades, arboribus: aquis Naiades et Hydriades, et quidem harum aliis Crenides, aliis Epipotamides: gregibus Epimelides, montibus Oreades etc. praeficit.
